MaiN ruswa e shahr thaa yaa meraa khyaal thaa
mujhe milne per usay ju malaal thaa

jaane kis maazii maiN rehtaa thaa
wo ju mera waqif-e-haal thaa

sab log hii haseeN lagte thay mujhe
her shakhs hi aap apni misaal thaa

us ki batouN ka mujh pe aser kia hota
maiN ke ju roob-e-zawaal thaa

us se na dosti achii na dushmani Waheed
wo jise door jane maiN hasil kamaal thaa
