People who feel insecure in their relationships have a higher risk of developing heart disease and other health problems. Attachment insecurity has been F2Fpothesized to be a risk factor for disease development and chronic illness.

To investigate the association between attachment rating and overall health of adults, researchers studied 5,645 adults, aged between 18 and 60 years, who completed a questionnaire about their attachment and relationships. The participants also provided details regarding their history of 15 health conditions.

An association was found between avoid ant attachment people who feel unable to get close to others or have others depend on them and chronic pain, such as frequent or severe headaches. People who were insecure in their relationships had further risks.

These findings suggest that insecure attachment is a risk factor for a wide range of health problems, particularly heart disease.
