GHALLANAI: Militants fired several mortar shells at the Ghallanai headquarters of Mohmand Rifles and dynamited a government girls’ middle school in Safi Tehsil in the restive Mohmand Agency on Monday.

Sources told The News that militants rained six mortar shells on the headquarters of Mohmand Rifles, a wing of the paramilitary Frontier Corps (FC). All of the shells missed the target as two of them landed near the building of the Mohmand Press Club while the rest hit a nearby mountain in the area.

In another incident, the building of the Government Girls Middle School Shawa Farsh in the Safi Tehsil was completely destroyed when explosive device planted by militants went off early in the morning.
