tour by World XI, which was postponed twice in a year, in order to revive international cricket in Pakistan has now successfully been scheduled to take place in Karachi. The touring side will play 2 Twenty20 matches against Pakistan XI on October 20 and 21.

World XI team will comprise of players from South Africa, West Indies, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan. They will be captained by Sanath Jaysuriya whereas Alvin Kallicharan is given duties of coach and manager. Shahid Afridi will lead the Pakistan XI.
The other notable names who will be touring are Justin Kemp and Andre Nel (South Africa). Both have visited Pakistan before. Kemp was vice-captain of the South African ODI team which came to play ODI Series in 2007 whereas Nel, who has also played a Test in Karachi, visited twice in 2003 and 2007.
Last year, Afghanistan toured to play 3 unofficial One Day matches at Rawalpindi, Islamabad and Faisalabad. But this tour by World XI will be first time since the terrorist attack on Sri Lankan Cricket Team in 2009 that some famous players will be touring Pakistan, albeit for exhibition matches.
The tour was earlier scheduled in May and August, but on both the occasions it was postponed due to unavailability of Pakistan’s marquee players.

World XI:Sanath Jayasuriya (captain), Ricardo Powell, Steven Taylor, Jermaine Charles Lawson, Adam Sanford, Justin Kemp, Lungile Bosman, Andre Nel, Andre Johann Seymore, Hayword, Shapoor Zadran and Mohammad Shehzad Mohammadi. Alvin Kallicharan (coach and manager)

Pakistan XI: Shahid Afridi (captain), Younis Khan, Nasir Jamshed, Asad Shafiq, Shahzaib Hasan, Khalid Latif, Umer Akmal, Fawad Alam, Shoaib Malik, Umer Gul, Mohammad Sami, Wahab Riaz, Sarfraz Ahmed, Imran Nazir.
