Mushkil hai ab shahar mein nikle koi ghar se
dastaar pe baat aa gai hai hoti hui ser se

Barsaa bhi to kis dasht ke be-faiz badan par
ik umr mere kheit the jis abr ko tarse

Is baar jo eindhan ke liye kat ke giraa hai
chiriyon ko barra pyaar tha us buurhe shajar se

Mehanat meri aandhi se to mansuub nahin thi
rahna tha koi rabt shajar ka bhi samar se

Khud apne se milne ka to yaarana tha mujh mein
main bheer mein gum ho gai tanhaai ke Dar se

Benaam musaafat hi muqaddar hai to kya Gham
manzil ka ta'yyun kabhi hota hai safar se

Pathrayaa hai dil yun ki koi talism parhaa jaaye
ye shahar nikaltaa nahin jaadu ke asar se

Nikale hain to raste mein kahin shaam bhi hogi
suuraj bhi magar aayegaa is raah-guzar se
