Mixing 10 ml of the fluid extracted from mango bark with 125 ml of water is an effective gargle in the case of sore throat.

One teaspoon of coarsely powdered cinnamon, boiled in a glass of water with a pinch of pepper powder, and two teaspoons of honey can be taken as a medicine in the treatment of this condition. Two or three drops of cinnamon oil, mixed with a teaspoon of honey, also give immense relief.


Two tablespoons of fenugreek seeds put in a liter of cold water and allowed to simmer for half an hour over a low flame, when cooled makes an effective gargle.


Water boiled with basil leaves can be taken as a drink, and also used as a gargle to relieve a sore throat


An extract of Kantakari, prepared by continuously boiling the plant in about two liters of water after washing it thoroughly is an effective gargle.


A small piece of raw liquorice can he chewed or sucked for treating this condition.


Tamarind water should be used as a gargle. A powder of the dry leaves and an infusion of the bark can also be used for preparation of a gargle for treating sore throat


Melt 2-3 teaspoons of salt to one glass of water, gurgle the salty water in your throat and on the infected area.


Cut an onion into strips, squeeze the spicy juice out, add one spoon of honey and drink right away.


Mash one ginger root, add 1/3 cup of boiling water and one tablespoon of sugar. Drink when it's slightly warm (can use honey instead of water and eat).


Drink tea with lemon, can also add sugar or honey.


Blanch 2 teaspoons of fresh/ dry hyssop leaves to 3/4 cup of hot water; add 1 spoon of honey, gurgle and swallow.


Mix 2 tablespoons of sesame oil and one tablespoon of honey. Take one spoon 3 times a day.
