![]() ![]() ![]() ~*~ Tribute to Greatest Benazir Bhutto Shaheed~*~ ![]() http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PB-SVHCQxyI Benazir Bhutto (Deceased) June 21st 1953 -December 27th 2007 Benazir Bhutto was born in Karachi, Pakistan on 21 June 1953 the eldest child of former Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Benazir attended the Lady Jennings Nursery School and then the Convent of Jesus and Mary in Karachi and later the Rawalpindi Presentation Convent. Her education continued when she was sent to the Jesus and Mary Convent at Murree where she passed her O-Level examinations at the age of fifteen and her A-Levels were then taken at the Karachi Grammar School. Benazir’s higher education saw her moving to the United States of America to the Radcliffe College and ultimately at Harvard University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree cum laude in comparative government. The next phase of her education took place in the United Kingdom. Between 1973 and 1977 Bhutto studied Philosophy, Politics, and Economics at Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford. She completed a course in International Law and Diplomacy while at Oxford. In December 1976 she was elected president of the Oxford Union, becoming the first Asian woman to head the prestigious debating society. By the age of thirty four she had married Asif Ali Zardari in her home land, Karachi Pakistan. Over the years the couple had three children, Bilawal, Bakhtwar, and Aseefa. Bhutto’s father became President of Pakistan from 1971 to 1973 and as Prime Minister from 1973 to 1977. He was the founder of the Pakistan People's Party (PPP), one of the largest and most influential political parties of Pakistan. However amidst charges of conspiracy to murder in 1978 he was released from his position and despite widely doubted charges and calls for clemency from foreign leaders, he was hanged on April 4th 1979. At this time Benazir and her mother were held in a ‘police camp’ until the end of May that year Tragedy was never far from the life of Benazir when one by one her brothers were also killed in suspicious circumstances. Shahnawaz was killed in 1985 in France by what Benazir claimed was a poisoning and Mir Murtaza died during a shoot out with Pakistani police in 1996, all of which served to contribute to aid the destabilizing of Benazir’s period as Prime Minister during her second term. Her first term in 1988, saw Benazir as the first woman elected to head a Muslim state but her position was short lived as just 20 months later she was removed by President Ghulam Ishaq Khan on grounds of alleged corruption. In 1993 Bhutto was re-elected but was again removed in 1996 on similar charges, this time by President Farooq Leghari. Bhutto went into self-imposed exile in Dubai in 1998, where she remained until she returned to Pakistan on 18 October 2007. Following her return to Pakistan in October 2007 an attempt was made on her life her within hours of her arrival as her motorcade passed through the streets of Kirachi. Not being deterred from her attempts to run in the forth coming elections on January 8th 2008, Benazir remained in Pakistan. Although questions were asked as to the amount of security offered to her she continued to attend rallies as the dominant politician in her party. As Benazir was being driven through the streets of Rawalpindi, Pakistan on December 27th 2007 after attending a political rally in Liaquatbagh, she stood up through the sunroof of her Landcruiser to wave at supporters who were cheering her. It was first reported that at this moment a sniper made several shots at her before detonating his own suicide explosives, but later it was revealed that it was the shrapnel from the sucicide bomber's detination which actually killed Benazir. Several supporters were killed in the explosion. Mrs Bhutto was rushed to Rawalpindi General Hospital where she died at 6:16 P.M. (PST). Benazir Bhutto saw her role in life to fight for the democracy of Pakistan and constantly put her political duties far above her family and children in her brave fight for the freedom of Pakistan and its people. Benazir leaves behind a husband, Asif Zardari and 3 children.

Good job, Tabi jee!
I didn't like Benazir's politics or her husband but as a woman, mother, wife and Pakistan's first female President I respect her a lot and hope that may Allah (swt) grant her a place in Jannat-ul-Firdoos. Ameen.
