chaman main subah ye kahti thi ho kar chashm-e-tar shabnam
bahar-e-bag to yun hi rahi lekin kidhar shabnam
arq ki bund us ki zulf se rukhsar par tapki
tajub ki hai jage ye pari khurshid par shabnam
hamain to bag tujh bin khana-e-matam nazar aya
idhar gul pharte the jab, roti thi udhar shabnam
kare hai kuch na kuch tasir sohbat saf tabon ki
hui atish se gul ke baithate rashq-e-sharar shabnam
bhala tuk subah hone do ise bhi dekh lewenge
kisi ashiq ke rone se nahin rakhti khabar shabnam
nahin asbab kuch lazim subak saron ke uthne ko
gai ur dekhte apne bagair az bal-o-par shabnam
na paya jo gaya is bag se hargiz surag uska
na palti phir saba idhar, na phir ai nazar shabnam
na samjha Dard hamne bhed yan ki shadi-o-gam ka
sahar khandan hai kyon roti hai kis ko yak kar shabnam
