Tere jaisa mera bhi haal tha na sukoon tha na qaraar tha
Yehi umr thee mere hamnasheen ke kisi se mujh ko bhi pyar tha

Mai samajh raha hoon teri kasak, tera mera dard hai mushtarak
Isi gham ka tu bhi aseer hai isi gham ka mai bhi shikaar tha

Faqat aik dhun thee ke raat din usi khaabzaar mai gum rahen
Wo saraapa aisa suroor tha wo khumar aisa khumar tha

Kabhi lamhe bhar ki bhi guftgoo meri us ke saath na ho saki
Mujhe fursaten nahee mil sakin wo hawa ke rath pe sawar tha

Hum ajeeb tarz ke log thay ke hamare aur bhi rog thay
Mai khizan mai uska tha muntazar use intizar-e-bahaar tha

Use padh ke tum na samjh sake ke meri kitaab ke roop mai
Koi qarz tha kai saal ka kai ratjagon ka udhar tha
